China
Insight Editorial & Content Policy

Whereas it is the purpose and goal of this newspaper to independently foster US-China

cultural and business harmony, we must adhere to standards of publication that are beyond

reproach.

PRINCIPLES. Our readers and advertisers are relying on us to provide information that they

believe is credible, accurate, timely and relevant to achieving our stated goals. To ensure that we

maintain these principles, we have developed and adopted a set of guidelines that will determine

whether or not material is suitable for publication in the newspaper.

GUIDELINES. Material must always meet the requirement of being credible, accurate, timely

and relevant. It should not be political, religious or focus on a specific moral issue unless an

item is featured as a public service announcement (PSA) and is identified as such. We must

remain neutral in presenting articles that may be of a controversial nature and all such feature

articles must concentrate on presenting factual information. This will apply to all types of news

items regardless of which category, excluding advertising, it may fall into.

REGULAR FEATURES. In every issue we will devote a section to the following categories:

business, culture, travel, language, finance (investing), and local events. As news warrants, there

could also be sections on Science & Technology, Health, etc. We may also, from time to time,

include articles that have a specific human-interest angle that would warrant publication. A

library of acceptable PSA’s should also be created.

SOURCES OF ARTICLES. Although we will strive to produce as much original material as we

possibly can through the efforts of our own staff writers, free-lance writers and other types of

contributors, we will focus on articles and material from all other sources of news that may be

relevant to our newspaper. Since there are hundreds of sources for such information, we must be

constantly reviewing these sources for material we can reproduce. This is actually a service we

provide our readers since it is impossible for anyone to read everything that is being printed

about China and US cultural and business matters. By our prudent selection of articles from other

sources we can actually provide many more perspectives about what is going on in these areas.

Naturally proper releases must be obtained from these sources before we can reprint such

articles.

PRESS RELEASES. We will apply the same policy to all press releases submitted with the

additional criteria that they be limited to the degree that they are self-serving to any one

individual, group or business. Items received from non-profit entities will be granted a little more

latitude. Under no circumstances can this be dictated by promises of advertising within the

newspaper!

LITMUS TEST. No article should be considered unless it can comply and meet the guidelines

set forth above. Do not submit or recommend any items for publication unless the material can

pass this scrutiny. We need to be consistent in the application of these requirements so that we do

not violate our Editorial & Content Policy.
