Chinese Heritage Foundation holds 4th Annual Open House

Greg Hugh, of China Insight, revisited the highly successful community wide event, A Passage to China that was a collaboration between China Insight and CHF. Yin Simpson talked about the many outreachactivities of the Foundation’s calligraphy team; and Pearl Bergad gave a summary of President Bush’s speech on volunteering that she attended at the White House last month.

There was a break in the formal presentations when the moderator of the event, Margaret Wong, introduced a song she had quickly composed to reflect the mission of the Chinese Heritage Foundation. The lyrics are as follows and is sung to the melody of Frère Jacques (Are you sleeping?).

I love China. I love China.

Do you too? Do you too?

I love her culture.

I love her heritage.

That's why we are here.

The Open House concluded with comments by Sandra Vargas, president and CEO of The Minneapolis Foundation, during which she praised CHF for its multifaceted activities, both in the Twin Cities and elsewhere in Minnesota.
